Special Educational Needs

Every Child Matters

Our policy for special educational needs operates in accordance with the Code of Practice and we work in close contact with other agencies, especially the Educational Psychologist and Pupil and Parent Services, to ensure that the needs of children with Special Educational Needs are met.

We have achieved the inclusion quality mark since 2009 and have a commitment to all children having a common entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum which is differentiated to meet individual needs and abilities.

Where appropriate children may be assessed by the Educational Psychologist and have a Statement of Special Education Needs prepared in which particular strategies are recommended. Parents are kept fully informed during the process of preparing a statement which is now called an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
